Ever heard the stereotype about people craving chocolate when they’re on their period? Well, there is a reason for that. First, chocolate literally makes you happy (endorphins, get at me!) second, the high magnesium content in dark chocolate does all kinds of good things for your body, including easing PMS symptoms in many people and increasing energy.*
We believe that eating delicious, sustainably sourced organic chocolate is simply a great way to improve your day.
If you are enjoying Chica Chocolate, we recommend opening your bag of twelve Chica truffles 7-10 days before you start your bleeding, and eating two truffles a day for six days in a row.
Using a period app is very helpful for tracking your cycle (we love Clue), and you can set a reminder on your app to let you know when to eat your Chica every month.
If you don’t know when you are going to start bleeding, or don’t bleed at the same time every month, it’s ok!
Do you have any signs that your period is coming? This can look like acne, bloating, or mood swings. Start eating Chica when these signs appear.
If you don’t have any signs -Fortunately, nature has a built in cycle that you can follow. You can start eating Chica Chocolate on either the full moon or new moon every month. The herbs in Chica Chocolate will help to regulate your cycle, though this may take longer than two periods with Chica Chocolate to notice.
Many Chica Chocolate customers see a positive difference in their period by the first month! However, every body is different, and it may take you a few cycles to notice changes. 93% of existing Chica customers experienced a better period after their second month eating Chica.
We recommend you enjoy Chica consistently for at least three periods in a row.
Allow your body time to change, and enjoy delicious chocolate in the meantime.
We see you, non-bleeders. We know Chica is delicious, and you can’t help yourself.
What if I am not bleeding due to birth control?
The herbs in Chica will help to nourish and support your underlying menstrual cycle, even while you are using a hormonal birth control that stops your bleeding. Eating Chica while on birth control can help your body to adjust back to its natural cycle more easily if you ever decide to stop using your hormonal birth control. Chica will not impact the effectiveness of your birth control.
What if I am pregnant or nursing?
Chica Chocolate is not recommended for anyone currently pregnant due to the strong warming and blood invigorating herbs in our formula.
Chica Chocolate is safe to eat while nursing if you are having your period again. If your period has not returned on its own, your body does not yet need the herbs.
Please consult a licensed physician or practitioner if you are concerned about Chica’s effect on your health.
Short answer: Yes!
The herbs in Chica Chocolate help release Liver Qi stagnation, which can help relieve frequent frustration and mood swings.*
However, if you are enjoying Chica Chocolate for your own period, we recommend keeping Chica to yourself so that you can enjoy all those period-loving herbs your body craves.
Dong Quai is one herb in the Chica Chocolate formula that is known to increase blood circulation.
This increase has been considered bad for endometriosis, due to fear that this will cause the endometrial tissue to further spread and become aggravated. However, Dong Quai actually introduces fresh blood to your uterine system, allowing your body to naturally cleanse by removing excess tissue growth, healing tissue damage, and limiting the formation of scar tissue. Encouraging this circulation is considered to be supportive for reducing pain and inflammation for those with endometriosis.*
We have many customers with endometriosis who report a positive experience with Chica Chocolate. However, always listen to your own body, and stop eating Chica Chocolate immediately if you do not like how your body feels.
If you have any hesitations around any of the herbs in Chica, we encourage you to consult with your herbal or medical practitioner.
